Empower Kids by Encouraging Your Child to Read

To guide your kid to succeed in academics you should do your part to ensure that your child starts school with a solid foundation in language and literacy-related skills and a desire to learn to read.

In the early elementary years – from first to third grades – your kid will continue learning how to read, which is a complex process that is hard for some and easy for others. Be careful during these years not to exaggerate the approach of learning to read while supporting your child to practice reading often.

Picking up books and reading them for pleasure and interest will help your child to develop reading skills and will allow your kid to practice these skills in meaningful ways.

We can also encourage them by singing songs and reciting poems that have repetitive sounds and rhymes. Repetition makes it easier for them to catch up on the patterns in the sounds you make. Help your child understand that reading is important by letting him see you reading books, recipes, and directions, and even newspapers. Suggest reading as a free-time activity. Keep books that are of interest to your child in an easy place for him to reach.

Let’s inspire more children to read with prospective and encouraging approaches to build their reading skills.
