I grew up being fascinated by the Mother Goose Rhymes! I loved hearing “Humpty Dumpty, Mary Had a Little Lamb”, etc. I truly believe that hearing the rhythm of the verses helped me to be a better reader. I enjoyed reading them to my own children and I am now reading them to my grandchildren. Sadly though, I think a lot of children today are not being read to at home, period! They are losing out on the vital parent/child bonding that kids today truly need. We need to make a huge effort to get children away from the TV set and the computer screen and get back to the joys of reading. They can start right now by reading my book, “Butterflies, Bears, and Other Poems for Children.”
